Now in its sixth year, The Boeing Afterschool Math and Science Program promotes hands-on math and science learning experiences in an afterschool environment. Using activities designed by local teachers, Boeing engineers volunteer their time to lead activities that reinforce math and science concepts to help struggling students in grades 4-8.
Each quarter, volunteers spend six weeks leading one-hour student sessions. Students have an opportunity to work in teams to solve real-world math problems, design and build products and troubleshoot issues along the way. Boeing volunteers share their experiences from the workplace and relate them to the activities so students learn first-hand how engineers work, think and interact in real life.
